From the Style Excercise

While I was doing the Style Exercise for Reading and Writing course I learnt a lot of new phrases and words. Let me show some of them for you:

• tap: knock, slap

• paving stone: cobble ("echoes of my shoes, tapping on a paving stone")

• malicious: evil

• ware: wakeful

• shady: darksome, gloomy

• put sy in a paddy: make someone angry

• sneer: satirical smile

• floaty: light

• dazzling: blinding, gorgeous
